Atiku Reflects on 2027 Presidential Run – Segun Sowunmi

-

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Segun Sowunmi has revealed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has not yet decided whether to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on Channels Television, Sowunmi disclosed that despite asking Atiku twice about his intentions, the former presidential candidate has remained noncommittal.

“Atiku is still in a reflective mood,” Sowunmi said. “He hasn’t said ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ It’s clear that the burden of election is heavy, especially after the challenges and betrayals he has faced. Reflecting deeply before deciding is the right approach.”

While Atiku has not officially announced his candidacy, Sowunmi noted that his “body language” suggests he may be considering another attempt after two previous bids in 2019 and 2023.

Sowunmi emphasized the importance of adapting strategies if Atiku decides to run again, stating, “We can’t do the same thing twice and expect different results. If he’s running, we must restructure our approach; if not, we’ll pivot accordingly.”

Atiku’s decision is highly anticipated within the PDP, as it will shape the party’s strategy for the 2027 presidential race.
