Erhriatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Delta State Governor James Ibori, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). She made the announcement on Thursday, reading a letter on the floor of the House of Representatives.
Her defection marks a significant development, as her father, James Ibori, served as Governor of Delta State from 1999 to 2007 and is believed to still maintain significant influence within the PDP’s political structure in the state.
Ms. Ibori-Suenu’s move follows a series of recent defections, with four members of the Labour Party’s federal lawmakers also joining the APC, further fueling the wave of political shifts within the Nigerian political landscape.
