 Finidi George Praises Stephen Manyo’s Standout Performance Against Katsina United

Rivers United’s technical adviser, Finidi George, commended defender Stephen Manyo for his outstanding display in their goalless draw against Katsina United at the Muhammed Dikko Stadium on Sunday. Manyo, who joined Rivers United from Katsina United at the start of the 2024-25 season, delivered a solid performance, which Finidi attributed to the player’s motivation from the support shown to him by the team.

“He had a fantastic game,” Finidi told the club’s media, acknowledging the player’s determination to perform well against his former club. Finidi added, “It’s not easy to play against your former team and excel.”

Nigeria’s Wahid Oshodi Elected President of African Table Tennis Federation

Wahid Enitan Oshodi of Nigeria has been unanimously elected as the President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF). His appointment marks a new chapter for the 54-member continental body, following the conclusion of its Annual General Meeting held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Oshodi succeeds Khaled El-Salhy, who served as president for three terms from 2010 to 2024. Oshodi, previously the Deputy President of ATTF and an Executive Vice President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), will serve a four-year term as the new head of the ATTF. His election also makes him the only Nigerian currently leading a continental sports organization.

AFCON 2025: Cameroon and Algeria Secure Qualification

Five-time champions Cameroon have secured their spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following a 1-0 victory over Kenya in Kampala, with Boris Enow netting the decisive goal.

Additionally, 2019 champions Algeria have also qualified, winning their match against Togo 1-0 in Lome, courtesy of a first-half penalty by Ramy Bensabaini.

With these results, Cameroon and Algeria join hosts Morocco and Burkina Faso as the four teams confirmed for the tournament so far.

EPL: Paul Gascoigne Advocates for Ferguson’s Return to Manchester United

Former England international Paul Gascoigne has expressed his desire for Sir Alex Ferguson to make a return to Manchester United for “one more season.” Gascoigne’s comments come as current manager Erik ten Hag faces mounting pressure due to the team’s disappointing performance this season.

In an interview with SportsCasting, Gascoigne reflected on the challenges faced by Ten Hag, noting, “I feel sorry for him a bit. Following in Ferguson’s footsteps is no easy task. Even Jose Mourinho and David Moyes struggled after him.”

Gascoigne suggested that Ferguson’s experience and leadership could reignite the squad’s potential, stating, “I would love to see what Ferguson could do with these players, as I think some of them take the p*** out of Ten Hag.”
