The Federal Government, through the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), has announced the launch of the highly anticipated PEBEC Subnational Tour. This initiative, which kicks off on November 12 in Katsina State, aims to enhance the Ease of Doing Business reforms at the state level by fostering collaboration between government bodies, the private sector, and international partners.
According to PEBEC’s Project Manager, Aimeya Okpebholo, the tour, running from November 12-14, will feature a series of town hall sessions, workshops, private sector engagement meetings, and an exhibition for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The tour’s focus is to improve Nigeria’s business climate, foster trust, and ensure transparency between businesses and regulators.
The first leg of the tour will involve stakeholders from six North-Western states: Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara, with Katsina serving as the host state. The initiative is designed to facilitate direct communication between state governments, regulators, and entrepreneurs, addressing bureaucratic hurdles and improving business operations.
Okpebholo emphasized that the tour offers a valuable opportunity for MSMEs, large companies, and entrepreneurs in the region to interact directly with government officials and regulatory bodies. The broader goal of the PEBEC initiative is to implement reforms that remove barriers to doing business in Nigeria, improve service delivery, and strengthen the perception of Nigeria’s business environment.
Since its inception in 2016, PEBEC has implemented over 190 reforms to address bureaucratic inefficiencies, contributing to a more favorable business climate in Nigeria.
This initiative highlights the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for private sector growth and economic development across the country.
