Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has called on the federal government to provide advance notice before arraigning individuals arrested for participating in the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests. Falana emphasized the importance of informing the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the families of the detained protesters to ensure proper legal representation.
Falana also revealed that seven Polish students, involved in an exchange program at Bayero University, Kano, were apprehended for taking photos during the protest and may face espionage charges. He warned that this could be an attempt to portray the protests as foreign-instigated. He stressed that adequate notice is essential for the suspects to prepare their defense.
