Former England striker, Darren Bent, has advised Arsenal to abandon their interest in signing Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler, suggesting the 19-year-old wouldn’t be a suitable addition to the Gunners’ squad.
Güler, who joined Real Madrid from Fenerbahce in July 2023, has impressed as one of the brightest young talents in European football. However, Bent believes that the Turkey international wouldn’t improve Arsenal’s current midfield options.
On talkSPORT’s Insider Gooners podcast, Bent said, “Not for me. You want a grade out of five? I will say one. He won’t fit the squad. I think he’s a very good player, I saw him at the Euros, very talented. But will you swap one bench for another?”
Bent added, “At Real Madrid, he’s not getting the opportunities. Coming to Arsenal, there are better options, be it out wide or in the No.10 role. I can’t see that one happening. Good player, but not for Arsenal, no.”
Despite Güler’s potential, Bent’s comments suggest he doesn’t see him as a necessary addition for Arsenal at this point in time.
