Elder statesman Edwin Clark has urged the immediate removal of Nyesom Wike from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure the party’s survival. In an open letter addressed to the acting National Chairman, Iliya Damagun, Clark accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of using his relationship with President Bola Tinubu to intimidate Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and undermine the party’s unity.
Clark criticized Damagun for not taking action against Wike’s alleged anti-party activities and warned that the future of the PDP is at risk if these issues are not promptly addressed. He expressed concern that Wike’s attempts to control Rivers State and maintain his political influence are unconstitutional and threaten the stability of the PDP.
Clark also accused Wike of using the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to disrupt the PDP and manipulate ongoing legal cases involving defected Rivers State lawmakers. He urged Damagun to establish a probe panel to investigate Wike and others involved in anti-party activities, insisting that appropriate sanctions should be applied if they are found guilty.
The elder statesman concluded by calling on the PDP leadership to act decisively to prevent further damage to the party and protect its integrity.
