The third round of this season’s Copa del Rey has been drawn, with Real Madrid set to face fourth-division side Deportiva Minera, while Barcelona will clash with UD Barbastro.
Deportiva Minera advanced to this stage by eliminating Alaves on penalties and will now host the reigning La Liga champions at their modest 2,000-seat stadium.
Meanwhile, Barcelona will take on UD Barbastro, another fourth-tier Spanish club, who recently defeated Espanyol in a thrilling encounter last Thursday.
Other Third-Round Fixtures
Joining Real Madrid and Barcelona in the third round are Athletic Club and Mallorca, the four teams competing in next month’s Spanish Supercopa.
- Athletic Club will travel to face UD Logroñés.
- Mallorca will visit Pontevedra.
These matches are scheduled to take place in January.
The draw has set the stage for thrilling knockout action as the Spanish giants aim to strengthen their Copa del Rey campaigns.
