Heartland’s technical adviser, Emmanuel Amuneke, has attributed his team’s 3-2 defeat to Plateau United to a loss of concentration during critical moments of the game. Despite the setback, Amuneke remains optimistic about the team’s growth and development moving forward.
Speaking in a post-match interview after the clash at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday, Amuneke praised Plateau United for their tactical execution.
“It was a very interesting game. Both teams played very well, but you must recognise Plateau United for using what they have to get the victory,” Amuneke said.
Amuneke expressed pride in his team’s performance but acknowledged that losing focus cost them the game. He emphasized the importance of learning from such experiences.
“We scored very good goals but unfortunately in the mix of the game we lost concentration. That is football, we will continue to grow,” he added.
The technical adviser believes the NPFL season is a marathon and remains focused on improving his players and building for the future.
“All we owe ourselves is to look at the areas we can develop our players and grow,” Amuneke concluded.
Heartland will now focus on regrouping and addressing the gaps ahead of their upcoming fixtures. Meanwhile, Plateau United will savor this hard-fought victory as they continue their push up the league table.
