The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna State has called on President Bola Tinubu to reconsider the membership composition of the North-West Development Commission. They emphasize that the commission should accurately represent the region’s religious and ethnic diversity to ensure effective coordination and successful policy implementation.
Pastor Caleb Ma’aji, the state chairman of CAN, made this appeal during a courtesy visit from officials of the Northern Christian Youth Professionals in Kaduna. Represented by Secretary Emmanuel Okunlola, Ma’aji highlighted Nigeria’s multicultural landscape and the importance of acknowledging it in governance to foster peaceful coexistence.
He also urged Governor Uba Sani to fulfill his promise to rebuild a church in Kuriga Community of Chikun Local Government Area, which was destroyed by fire.
Ma’aji called for patience among Nigerians amid current hardships, urging trust in the government for a better future and national survival. He expressed optimism that the Federal Government’s reforms would lead to economic revival and national prosperity, reminding leaders of their accountability to God.
Earlier, Mr. Isaac Abrak, President of the Northern Christian Youth Professionals, explained that their group aims to enhance the socio-economic well-being of Christians in the North and all Nigerians. He highlighted the group’s support for Tinubu’s presidency, citing his past leadership in uplifting youth and impoverished communities. Abrak urged Nigerians to give the president time and cooperation for his reform policies to take effect, advocating for equal treatment of all citizens regardless of religious, cultural, or ethnic differences.
