Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo, also known as Omoborty, has addressed the challenges within the movie industry. The single mother of two has opened up about the unfortunate practice of blacklisting colleagues who refused to compromise their principles with influential figures. Some faced the distressing situation of having their children sent home from school due to a lack of work and inability to pay school fees. However, they have persevered and now enjoy the freedom to choose whether they continue acting, as their livelihoods are no longer solely dependent on the film industry.
Biodun Okeowo expressed these sentiments while echoing her colleague Nkechi Blessing’s concerns about negative behavior in the industry. Nkechi called out those who engage in badmouthing colleagues to movie producers and directors, thereby denying them opportunities to star in movies. She reminded them that their actions could have consequences in the long run.
This isn’t the first time Biodun Okeowo has shared her difficult experiences in Nollywood. In the past, she recalled how certain colleagues, feeling threatened by her presence, had tried to undermine her by sabotaging her access to influential circles within the industry.
