Anambra Government Imposes Movement Restrictions for Local Council Elections

-

The Anambra State Government has implemented a movement restriction across the state from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, September 28, 2024, in preparation for the local council elections.

In a statement, Dr. Law Mefor, the Commissioner for Information, announced that the restriction aims to facilitate a smooth electoral process. He stated, “Ndi Anambra are hereby informed that there is a movement restriction throughout Anambra state… as the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) requested.”

Mefor specified that only individuals engaged in election-related duties—such as ANSIEC officials, accredited journalists, electoral observers, ambulances responding to medical emergencies, and firefighters—are permitted to travel during this time.

He urged residents to comply with the order for the sake of peace and to avoid legal repercussions.
