Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade is on the verge of securing multiple accolades following her outstanding performance at Atletico Madrid Feminine. Just days after being nominated for the inaugural Liga F Player of the Month Award, Ajibade is also in contention for a club recognition due to her remarkable start to the season, as reported by PUNCH Sports Extra.
In just three games, the 24-year-old forward has made a significant impact, scoring five goals and providing two assists, placing her joint top of the league’s scoring chart alongside Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor, who is also nominated for the award. Ajibade’s impressive form was further highlighted when she netted a hat-trick against Madrid CFF, although initially credited with only one goal; two others were later confirmed as own goals by Liga F.
“What a start! Rasheedat Ajibade has scored five goals and two assists,” the league body announced on their X account on Tuesday.
Additionally, Spanish sports outlet Futbol Mahou has recognized Ajibade along with four of her teammates as nominees for the club’s top performer award for September. The winners of both awards are expected to be announced before Atletico’s upcoming match against Athletic Club on Saturday.
Ajibade is competing against six other nominees for the Liga F award, which includes notable players like Barcelona’s Pajor, Real Madrid’s Caroline Weir, Levante Badalona’s María Llompart, and Athletic Club Femeninos’ Nerea Nevado.
This strong performance follows Ajibade’s successful previous season, where she recorded 10 goals and four assists in 30 matches, earning her the title of Atlético Madrid Player of the Season.
