Rio Ferdinand Hails Cristiano Ronaldo as ‘GOAT’ After Brace in Champions League

-

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has praised his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo after the 39-year-old scored a brace in Al-Nassr’s 3-1 victory over Al-Gharafa in the AFC Champions League on Monday.

Ronaldo’s performance followed his solitary goal in Al-Nassr’s 2-1 defeat to Al-Qadisiyah in the Saudi Pro League over the weekend. In the Champions League clash, after a goalless first half, Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 46th minute. Angelo Gabriel added a second for Al-Nassr in the 58th minute. Ronaldo then sealed his brace in the 64th minute before Al-Gharafa’s Joselu scored a late goal in the 75th minute, which was not enough to turn the tide.

Ferdinand, a former Manchester United teammate of Ronaldo, shared his admiration for the forward by posting a picture of Ronaldo celebrating one of his goals, along with a simple “GOAT” emoji, acknowledging his legendary status.

Ronaldo’s brace increased his career tally to 913 goals for club and country, a record that further cements his place in football history.
