May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, recently clarified misconceptions surrounding her stance on marriage during an interview with comedian Ayo Makun.
In the interview, May, who is a mother of four and is still mourning the loss of her first son last year, emphasized that she is not advocating for divorce or separation. She noted that some men believe she is misleading their wives because of her experiences, but she firmly stated her commitment to the institution of marriage.
“Some men see it like I am misleading their wives. You know why? Because I love family, I love marriage, and I see it as the basis for family. Without family, there would be no you or me. I am not in any way advocating divorce or separation,” May explained.
She shared insights into how she manages her personal challenges, asserting that she prefers to keep her issues private and does not air them on social media. She praised her robust support system, which includes family, friends, and her online community, who she described as reliable and supportive.
“Having a positive mindset is key for me. I embrace authenticity; I do not take my personal issues to social media. I have this big support system: my family and friends; they are always there for me when I need them, and then my online family members. They are like a pillar; they are reliable and dependable,” she stated.
May’s comments come in the wake of her estranged husband’s marriage to Judy, which led to the dissolution of their marriage. After Yul’s second marriage, May filed for divorce and sought a restraining order to prevent him from accessing their former marital home, while securing full custody of their children.
