Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, has announced plans to recruit 9,700 teachers to address the student-teacher ratio in the state’s public schools. Speaking at the burial of Tor Jechira, Chief Clement Uganden, in Vandeikya Local Government Area, Governor Alia emphasized that the recruitment drive will enhance education quality and fulfill a key campaign promise.
In addition to boosting education, Governor Alia proposed the creation of Young Farmers Clubs to engage the state’s youth in agriculture. The government will provide support in the form of farmlands, tractors, fertilizers, and other necessary inputs to ensure agricultural self-sufficiency and economic empowerment.
Former Governor Sen. Gabriel Suswam praised the development strides under Alia’s administration and urged Benue citizens to support the government’s efforts, regardless of political affiliations. He also paid tribute to the late Chief Uganden, highlighting his commitment to truth, peace, and the state’s progress.
