The Zamfara State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has confirmed that 11 out of the 18 registered political parties in the state will participate in the upcoming local government elections scheduled for November 16, 2024.
IPAC Chairman for Zamfara State, Alhaji Isah Moriki, shared this update during a press briefing in Gusau on Tuesday. He stated that parties under IPAC have coordinated with the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) to ensure a fair electoral process, despite recent legal challenges. The major opposition, All Progressives Congress (APC), had earlier taken ZASIEC to the Federal High Court in Gusau over alleged irregularities.
Moriki, who also leads the National Rescue Movement (NRM) in the state, expressed confidence in ZASIEC’s preparations. He mentioned that IPAC was satisfied with the commission’s commitment to a credible election, affirming that ZASIEC has met all legal requirements for the local government polls.
The participating parties include the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), National Rescue Movement (NRM), Young Progressive Party (YPP), Alliance Peoples Movement (APM), All Peoples Party (APP), African Action Congress (AAC), Labour Party (LP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Youth Party (YP).
