Award-winning singer Wizkid has responded to concerns about his recent appearance at an event, acknowledging the impact of his mother’s passing on his well-being. Following his attendance at the UK premiere of “Bob Marley: One Love” in London, where he appeared somber, fans expressed worry about his demeanor, describing him as looking dry, old, and soulless.
In his reaction, Wizkid shared his emotional journey, stating that since his mother’s departure, he has “lost himself.” Despite expressing hope that he will feel like himself again someday, he described his current state as the life of a soldier and warned that he might “slap anyone who doesn’t stay far” from him until then. Wizkid appreciated his fans for going through this phase with him and assured them not to complain when they see him back on his feet.
Last month, Wizkid had already expressed heartbreak over his mother’s death, revealing that life had become meaningless for him since she passed away. He shared the profound pain he experienced and the inspiration behind his song “IDK,” created in the aftermath of his mother’s death. Wizkid also mentioned the importance of letting go and working with God.
The Grammy singer lost his mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, on Friday, August 18th, leading to a heartfelt candle night procession and emotional tributes at her funeral. Despite the challenges he’s faced, Wizkid expressed gratitude for the support of his fans during this phase and urged them to understand his journey.
