Wilfred Ndidi Nets 7th Goal for Leicester City

-

Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi scored his seventh goal for Leicester City in their Carabao Cup match against Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday.

Ndidi, who has been in excellent form over the past year, has benefited from the arrival of Harry Winks from Tottenham Hotspur, allowing him more freedom to advance forward. Last season, Ndidi recorded six goals and six assists across all competitions, his highest goal involvements since joining the Foxes.

In Tuesday’s game, Ndidi made an impressive contribution by netting the Foxes’ third goal in the 71st minute. Positioned on the right side of Tranmere’s defense, he initially passed the ball to Harry Winks, who then played it to Jordan Ayew. Ayew deftly passed the ball back to Ndidi, who executed a remarkable move reminiscent of Lionel Messi, leaving Tranmere’s Jordan Turnbull behind before slotting the ball past goalkeeper Joe Murphy.

Under the guidance of new Leicester City manager Steve Cooper, who replaced Enzo Maresca this summer, Ndidi has been utilized in a more advanced role, which has been pivotal in his recent goal-scoring success, including his back-to-back goals against Tranmere in the Carabao Cup.
