The lifeless body of 12-year-old John Soyinka, who had been declared missing a week ago, was discovered in the Kotogbo community within Asero Estate, Abeokuta. The grim find revealed that some of the boy’s body parts were missing.
The incident was reported to the Obantoko Police Station in Abeokuta after Soyinka went missing. According to a resident who preferred to remain anonymous, the schoolboy disappeared after attempting to check on a customer who had previously conducted a PoS transaction in a shop where Soyinka assisted.
The source explained, “The boy and his mother lived at Olasunkanmi community, and so the Community Development Association reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer at Obantoko Station.”
The discovery of Soyinka’s mutilated body in Kotogbo community, located next to Olasunkanmi, has left residents in mourning. The circumstances surrounding the incident suggest the possibility of ritual killing, as the boy’s eyes were reportedly plucked out, and his wrists were severed.
When contacted for a reaction, SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the state police command, mentioned that she would check and provide further information.
