Nollywood Actress Tonto Dikeh Reacts to Sam Larry’s Statement Amidst Police Investigation
Tonto Dikeh, the prominent Nollywood actress, has responded to the first public statement made by Sam Larry following his arrest by the Nigerian police. The Lagos Police Command confirmed Sam Larry’s arrest on Thursday night, indicating that he was cooperating with their ongoing investigation.
In his initial statement, Sam Larry denied any involvement in the death of Mohbad, asserting that the incident had been seriously misunderstood. He addressed the viral video depicting him assaulting Mohbad, claiming that he had paid the artist to perform at his mother’s wedding but was disappointed when Mohbad failed to show up. Consequently, he confronted him during a shoot to resolve the matter.
However, Sam Larry’s explanation was met with skepticism by many, who believed it was an attempt to portray himself as innocent. Tonto Dikeh, who has been actively advocating for justice for the deceased, criticized the Nigerian police. She suggested that the police only publicized Sam Larry’s arrest because of public scrutiny.
Tonto Dikeh asserted that regardless of the police’s actions, Nigerians must seek justice for Mohbad. She stated, “No matter what they do, we must get justice for Mohbad.”
It’s worth noting that Iyabo Ojo expressed similar concerns, fearing that the situation following Sam Larry’s arrest might resemble a “Super Story.” A few weeks earlier, Tonto Dikeh had called out Sam Larry for following her on Instagram, urging him to unfollow her. She described him as a bully who had tormented the 27-year-old Mohbad until his tragic death and asserted that her roots as a Port Harcourt girl made her resilient to his actions.
