Passage of South West Development Commission Bill Achieved Through Strategic Lobbying – Senate Leader

-

Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele has revealed that the successful passage of the South West Development Commission Bill was the result of strategic lobbying by federal lawmakers from the South West. The bill, seen as crucial for the region’s development, received strong backing from lawmakers across political lines.

Speaking at the 2024 South West Assembly of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, Bamidele emphasized the influence of the South West caucus in the 10th National Assembly, noting that 15 out of 18 senators from the region are APC members. This large bloc enabled the caucus to effectively push for the bill’s passage.

Bamidele also highlighted the support of lawmakers from other parties, underscoring the bipartisan effort that contributed to the bill’s success. The bill is now awaiting concurrence from the House of Representatives before being sent to the President for final approval.
