Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli is celebrating a remarkable achievement as her 2019 movie *Last Year Single* continues to dominate Netflix in Nigeria. Despite its release five years ago, the film has maintained its position as the number-one show in the country.
Taking to Instagram, Omoni expressed her pride, describing this success as “no mean feat.” She humorously noted that even *Prison Break*, a globally popular series, couldn’t top her movie on Netflix in Nigeria, although it ranked in the top 10 in other countries. She thanked her fans for their continued support, ensuring the film remained at the top for three consecutive weeks.
Omoni also teased viewers with a question about one of the film’s characters, Afua, played by Bimbo Ademoye, sparking further intrigue. She encouraged those who haven’t watched the movie to do so, noting that its relatable characters, fun, flirty, and chaotic nature make it a must-see.
In her words:
“Still the number one show on Netflix in Nigeria!!! Listen, this is no mean feat! Prison Break couldn’t break us! So thankful for you guys keeping us on top.”
Omoni’s achievement is part of a larger trend of female filmmakers making waves in Nollywood. Actress Wumi Toriola and Bimbo Ademoye recently celebrated huge milestones on YouTube, while Funke Akindele made history by grossing over N1.4 billion at cinemas with her film *A Tr!be Called Judah*.
