Nigeria’s chances of securing a medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics have suffered another blow, as the men’s 4x400m relay team was disqualified from the final on Friday.
The team, consisting of Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathanial, Dubem Amene, and Chidi Okezie, had initially qualified for the final. However, officials ruled that they had violated lane rules by stepping on the line during their heat.
As a result, Belgium has moved up to second place, with South Africa now in third.
This disqualification follows Tobi Amusan’s earlier setback, as she failed to advance to the 100m hurdles final. Amusan finished third in her semi-final and ninth overall.
The Olympics will conclude on Sunday, August 11.
