Chief Dr. George Moghalu, a founding member and former National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially resigned from the party, citing personal reasons for his departure.
Moghalu’s resignation, which had been widely speculated throughout the year, was formalized on Tuesday. In his resignation letter addressed to the chairman of Uruagu Ward 1 in Nnewi North LGA, Anambra State, Moghalu stated his decision was effective immediately as of August 26, 2024. The letter was also copied to the Local Government Area and State Chairmen of the party.
The brief letter, personally signed by Moghalu, read:
“I bring you good wishes from my dear family and formally notify you of my decision to resign my membership of the APC effective today, August 26, 2024.
“Please accept this as my personal decision. It is my utmost desire and expectation that we continue to maintain the cordial relationships we have built over the years.
“I wish you and all the party members the very best. Please accept the assurance of my best regards.”
Moghalu’s resignation marks a significant departure from the APC, reflecting the ongoing shifts within Nigerian political landscapes.
