Mabel Makun, the interior decorator and wife of comedian Ayo Makun, known as AY, has broken her silence following her husband’s apology to singer Davido.
In response to the viral video where Ayo Makun made an insensitive joke about Davido, he had issued a heartfelt apology, acknowledging Davido’s right to be upset and expressing his willingness to learn from the experience. He accepted any backlash that came his way for the poorly delivered joke, emphasizing his unwavering support for Davido.
However, in a surprising turn of events, Davido responded calmly, telling Ayo Makun not to worry, saying, “Nothing spoil baba mi.”
Mabel Makun, who had initially defended her husband against critics of the joke, later had a change of heart. She shared a video of herself enjoying life and captioned it with a message of “love and light always.”
The controversy began when a video surfaced from Ayo Makun’s show in Warri, where he made jokes about Davido’s manhood, comparing it unfavorably to his own. This sparked outrage on social media, with many condemning Ayo Makun for publicly embarrassing his fellow entertainer.
Previously, Mabel Makun had posted on Instagram, lamenting the lack of respect for elders among Nigerian youths, showing her support for her husband in the midst of the controversy.
Additionally, AY had responded to a fan’s question about whether his wife had undergone cosmetic surgery, shutting down the inquiry with a firm response.
