Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced decisive measures to address financial management and security concerns in the state.

Key Highlights:
1. Freezing of State Bank Accounts:
Governor Okpebholo has ordered the immediate freezing of all state bank accounts, instructing commercial banks and heads of ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to comply. Violations of this directive will result in severe penalties.

“After necessary investigations and reconciliations, further decisions will be made,” Okpebholo stated.

2. Crackdown on Cult Clashes:
The governor has tasked the Edo State Commissioner of Police with halting violent cult clashes within 48 hours. He emphasized the urgency of ensuring safety across the state, particularly in Benin City.

“Edo must be safe. We will not allow unnecessary bloodshed,” he said, reiterating his campaign pledge to prioritize security.

3. Renaming of Ministry:
The Ministry of Roads and Bridges has been reverted to the Ministry of Works, citing the lack of infrastructure under the previous administration.

4. Thanksgiving Service:
During a thanksgiving service at Sam Ogbemudia Stadium, the governor recounted overcoming spiritual battles during his campaign. He urged citizens to place their trust in God, crediting divine intervention for his electoral victory.

These moves signal Okpebholo’s commitment to restoring order, accountability, and public trust in Edo State.
