Nigerian striker Victor Boniface, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen, shared his joy after making his first appearance in the Champions League during his team’s 4-0 win over Feyenoord on Thursday. In a post shared by football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Boniface recalled his early days, when he used to pay just N30 to watch Champions League matches.
Boniface expressed his pride, saying, “From paying 30 naira to watch the Champions League… to playing my first Champions League game. Proud of this moment.”
Boniface joined Bayer Leverkusen from Union SG in 2023 for a reported €21.7 million. His team will face Wolfsburg on Sunday as they aim to defend their Bundesliga title, breaking Bayern Munich’s 11-year championship streak last season.
