Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of instigating the internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Mohammed, who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, made the allegation following a meeting with the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) at the Government House in Bauchi on Wednesday.
The governor specifically pointed to the conflict between Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, over PDP leadership control in the state. Mohammed claimed that the APC had planted moles within the PDP to sow discord.
He said, “This is the creation of the other side. The APC always wants to have moles within us… They want to know what’s going on.”
Despite these challenges, the governor expressed optimism, believing the crisis could be resolved with unity and strategic leadership within the PDP. He also highlighted the APC’s recognition of Wike’s capabilities, saying it demonstrated the PDP’s strong human capital.
Mohammed reiterated the commitment of PDP governors to resolve conflicts and minimize divisions within the party, stressing the importance of justice, equity, and adherence to the party’s constitution.
PDP BoT Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, praised Mohammed’s efforts in seeking solutions to the party’s challenges and expressed readiness to support these initiatives, especially in addressing the crisis in Rivers State.
Wabara further stated that the BoT is planning separate meetings with the contending parties to find a resolution.
