APGA Threatens Suspension of Soludo Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

-

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has signaled its intention to suspend Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and others implicated in anti-party activities. The announcement was made during a press briefing at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday by APGA National Chairman Chief Edozie Njoku.

Njoku accused Soludo of hindering efforts by the Supreme Court-recognized NWC to restore unity within the party, stating that the governor’s actions constituted anti-party conduct. He revealed that a list of members slated for suspension, including Soludo, would be published on Thursday, 26th September 2024.

Regarding the upcoming off-cycle governorship election in Anambra State, Njoku noted that the party has not endorsed any single candidate and expressed doubt about Soludo’s ability to secure the party’s nomination in the primaries. He asserted that all aspirants must participate in the primary process, which he promised would be fair and transparent.

Njoku remarked, “We recently left the Court of Appeal, where an application was made to prevent my recognition by INEC, despite the Supreme Court’s ruling that my removal as National Chairman of APGA was unjustifiable.” He emphasized that recent legal maneuvers against the party’s leadership were conducted without proper consultation, stating that the actions taken were undermining APGA’s authority.

He criticized Soludo’s attempts to enact laws preventing the party from fielding candidates, accusing him of conducting anti-party activities behind the party’s back. Njoku stated, “No one is bigger than the party,” and underscored the NWC’s commitment to taking action against those undermining its integrity.

As tensions mount within the party, Njoku highlighted the necessity of maintaining party unity and warned against the consequences of allowing anti-party activities to persist. He reiterated, “APGA is here to stay,” indicating a resolve to address the challenges facing the party and ensure adherence to its principles.
