Academic Technologists Issue 21-Day Ultimatum to Federal Government Over Withheld Salaries

-

The National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) has given the Nigerian government a 21-day ultimatum to address unpaid salaries and other grievances or face potential industrial action. The ultimatum, starting from September 30, was part of the resolutions from NAAT’s 56th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Taraba State.

NAAT President Comrade Ibeji Nwokoma, in a letter to the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, expressed frustration over the government’s failure to pay the five and a half months of withheld salaries despite previous assurances. The letter also highlighted unresolved issues such as unpaid wage arrears, inadequate infrastructure, and outdated equipment in laboratories and workshops.

The union warned that failure to address these concerns within the three-week period would result in an industrial action.
