Relationship expert Blessing Okoro, widely known as Blessing CEO, has shared her thoughts on Ilebaye’s victory in the recently concluded All Stars show. Ilebaye, a former Level Up housemate, emerged victorious, surpassing popular contestants like Mercy Eke, Ceec, Cross, Pere, and Adekunle.
Ilebaye secured 30% of the votes cast, making her the winner, while Mercy garnered 23% as the closest rival. Blessing CEO commented on the power of emotional appeal in winning the hearts of Nigerians, suggesting that contestants should learn to evoke sympathy and manipulate public emotions.
She pointed out that Nigerians tend to favor individuals who display vulnerability rather than strong, powerful women, and she applauded Mercy Eke and Ceec for maintaining relevance over the years. Blessing CEO also highlighted the dramatic nature of the Big Brother Naija game, emphasizing its divergence from reality.
Ilebaye’s victory drew mixed reactions from fans and viewers, with some attributing it to pity votes. Kachi Ucheagwu, a former Ultimate Love reality TV star, expressed skepticism about the authenticity of her win and compared it to Nigeria’s Independence Day, where sympathy often outweighs meritocracy.
On the other hand, Tacha Akide, a former contestant and rival of Mercy Eke, celebrated Ilebaye’s victory, implying that it highlighted the impact of her own disqualification on Mercy’s win. Tacha and Mercy had a tumultuous feud during their season, with many believing that Tacha would have won if not for her disqualification. This rivalry has persisted, with Tacha holding a grudge against Mercy for allegedly robbing her of victory.
