Alleged sexual harassment: Suspended UNICAL professor closes defence

-

Professor Cyril Ndifon, the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), concluded his defense on April 11, 2025, in the ongoing sexual harassment case before the Federal High Court in Abuja. Ndifon, along with his co-defendant, lawyer Sunny Anyanwu, faces a four-count amended charge filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which includes allegations of sexual harassment, cybercrime, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

During the proceedings, Ndifon testified as the first defense witness, while CSP Babagana Mingali, a forensic analyst from the Office of the National Security Adviser, served as the second defense witness. The court has scheduled July 2, 2025, for the adoption of final written addresses from both parties.

Previously, on March 6, 2024, Justice James Omotosho dismissed a no-case submission from the defense, ruling that the prosecution had established a prima facie case requiring the defendants to present their defense.
