Rabiu Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), on Monday, criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a “dead party” and accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of being disconnected from the challenges Nigerians face, including worsening insecurity, deepening poverty, and hunger.
Speaking at the NNPP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Kano, Kwankwaso stressed that despite the hurdles confronting the party, the NNPP has become the fastest-growing political movement in the country. He expressed gratitude to the party’s supporters for their unwavering commitment and described the NNPP as a viable alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.
“I’m proud to say that, despite all challenges, our party is the fastest-growing in Nigeria. When I visited Katsina to open our state office, I said that the PDP was dead, and today, we can see that the party is breaking apart,” Kwankwaso said.
He added, “The APC is out of touch with reality. Its leadership is detached from the hardships on the ground, while the nation struggles with insecurity, poverty, and widespread hunger. Voters see their poor performance.”
During the event, NNPP National Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, urged Nigerians to focus on doing the right thing for the country’s future, while National Secretary, Dipo Olayoku, encouraged party members to participate in local government elections to strengthen the party’s presence and democracy.
Olayoku also reiterated the NNPP’s commitment to supporting its leaders and upholding the will of the electorate in the face of Nigeria’s political challenges. He recalled that during the last NEC meeting in April 2024, the party ratified its new constitution, logo, slogan, and flag in line with the Electoral Act and the Nigerian Constitution.
