The Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFund) has granted approval for an additional 22 state-owned tertiary institutions to submit applications for student loans. This new development raises the total number of qualified institutions to 108.
Among the newly approved institutions are Abia State University, Uturu; Delta State University, Abraka; The Polytechnic, Ibadan; and Rivers State University, Port Harcourt. These institutions, along with others, are now eligible to facilitate loan applications for their students.
The decision followed a thorough review by the committee overseeing the Student Verification System (SVS), which ensures that institutions meet the required standards. NELFund urged both the institutions and students to adhere to the established guidelines to ensure the efficient use of the loan program.
Previously, 86 state-owned institutions had been approved, including notable schools like Lagos State University, Benue State University, and Ekiti State University. This expansion allows more students across the country to access financial assistance for their education.
