Zamfara Hisbah Commission Hosts Mass Wedding for 100 Couples

-

On Wednesday, the Zamfara State Hisbah Commission conducted a mass wedding ceremony for 100 couples in a landmark event. The State Governor, Dauda Lawal, served as the guardian for the grooms, while the Emir of Zamfara, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad, took on the role of the father and guardian for the brides.

In line with Islamic tradition, Governor Lawal sought the Emir’s permission before the wedding prayers began. He emphasized that the weddings were part of broader initiatives under his administration to provide support and comfort to the people of Zamfara.

The Governor covered the dowry for each bride, contributing N100,000, along with an additional N50,000 to cover other wedding expenses. Jamilu Jibo, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), also contributed N20,000 to each bride.

The Hisbah Commission’s Commander highlighted the importance of marital harmony, noting that medical tests were conducted for all participants to ensure health safety. He further outlined a process for resolving marital issues, starting from the district head to the Hisbah Commission headquarters, aimed at promoting stable marriages and reducing divorce rates.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Emirs of Anka, Gusau, and Dansadau, as well as key government officials such as Abubakar Na Kwada, the Secretary to the State Government, and Muktar Lugga, the Chief of Staff. The State government also provided household items like beds, wardrobes, and kitchenware to support the newlyweds.

This mass wedding, which brought together hundreds of couples, reflects a significant step in fostering communal unity and supporting marriage stability within Zamfara State.
