Ahead of the Edo State governorship election, Emmanuel Aribe-Osula, former deputy minority leader of the House of Representatives, urged voters to reject the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). In an interview, he described the election as a critical test for Nigerian democracy, condemning APC’s nine years in power, which he believes have brought hardship, insecurity, and suffering to Nigerians.
Aribe-Osula stressed that supporting APC would further damage Edo’s future and urged voters to elect Asue Ighodalo of the PDP, whom he praised for his vision and commitment. He dismissed concerns about Ighodalo’s ties to the current governor and highlighted his respect for the Oba of Benin, contrasting this with APC’s alleged failures. He warned that voting APC would only continue the negative trends of insecurity and economic hardship.
