Lagos’ Lakowe Lakes Golf and Country Club has welcomed top professional golfers from across West Africa for the 2024 “Escape to the Greens” tournament, commencing today.
Leading the delegation of foreign players is renowned Ghanaian golfer Emos Korblah, accompanied by compatriot Vincent Torgah. Representing Francophone countries, veteran Togolese golfer Agbvon Kosivi adds depth to the competitive field.
Nigeria boasts a strong contingent including Francis Epe, Sunday Olapade, Okoko Godwin, Francis Christopher, Kamalu Bako, Gift Willy, Chukwudi Okor, and Mike Ubi, all vying for top honors.
Femi Olagbenro, Golf Manager at Lakowe Lakes, emphasized the tournament’s impact on regional golf development, stating, “Our championship course has significantly bolstered professional golf in the sub-region, enhancing both sport and tourism experiences.”
The “Escape to the Greens” event not only promises a substantial N20 million purse for professional golfers but also enriches amateur players’ prizes with golf gifts and memorabilia, combining professional sport with family-oriented tourism.
