Juan Izquierdo, a 27-year-old Uruguayan footballer, passed away on August 22 following a sudden heart arrest during a Copa Libertadores match against São Paulo. Izquierdo’s tragic collapse occurred in the 84th minute of the game. Immediate medical intervention was carried out as he was swiftly transported to Hospital Albert Einstein. Despite being placed on a ventilator and receiving urgent care, he succumbed to his condition, which was identified as “cardiorespiratory arrest associated with his cardiac arrhythmia.”

His club, Nacional, issued a heartfelt statement expressing deep sorrow and extending condolences to his family, friends, and supporters. They stated, “It is with the deepest sorrow and shock in our hearts that the Club Nacional announces the death of our beloved player Juan Izquierdo.
