Team Nasarawa is set for a strong showing as the 8th edition of the National Youth Games, tagged “Asaba 2024,” kicked off on September 9th at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Delta State. With over 5,000 athletes from across Nigeria participating, Nasarawa’s contingent is ready to compete in 15 sports, including hockey, boxing, weightlifting, and more.
The team, consisting of 104 athletes and 33 officials, is optimistic about its medal prospects. Coaches expressed confidence in their athletes’ preparation, with boxing coach Nnamdi Osuji and hockey coach Zainab Sule predicting impressive performances.
Despite a few disqualifications during the screening, Team Nasarawa remains focused on excelling as the games progress through to September 19, 2024.
