Kano Pillars goalkeeper Charles Tambe has dedicated Sunday’s last-gasp 2-1 victory over Plateau United to the fans and his teammates. The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 10 thriller took place at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina. Tambe, who made multiple crucial saves to keep Kano Pillars in contention after an early setback, expressed gratitude for the team’s resilience.
Reflecting on his role, Tambe said, “It’s about being ready for every moment. My job is to keep us in the game, and I’m glad I could do that today. To score in extra time for the fans and the team is always special.”
After a slow start, Kano Pillars relied heavily on Tambe’s defense, and he delivered five critical saves. Plateau United took the lead in the second half, pressuring the Pillars until Rabiu Ali’s free-kick equalized the score in the 78th minute. The comeback was sealed when Ahmed Musa scored in the 92nd minute, marking his third goal of the season and securing the win that elevated Kano Pillars from 8th to 6th in the league standings.
