The Enugu State Police Command has arraigned and remanded a 30-year-old man, Tsehemba Joshua, on charges of armed robbery and the murder of Yusuf Ibrahim, a 19-year-old scrap scavenger. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, released the statement on Monday, also sharing the details via the command’s X (formerly Twitter) account.

Joshua allegedly conspired with two other accomplices, who remain at large, to rob Ibrahim of N100,000 before strangling him. According to the statement, Joshua has been remanded to the Enugu Correctional Custodial Centre following his initial court appearance.

The arrest was made by officers from the Udenu Police Division after a shallow grave was reported in a bush at Ojo River, Ogbodu-Aba, Obollo Community. The command stated that Joshua confessed to luring the victim under the pretense of a scrap motor vehicle sale, committing the robbery, and then burying the body on October 2, 2024.

The investigation was conducted by the Campus Monitoring/Anti-Cultism Section of the State CID Enugu, leading to Joshua’s arraignment and remand pending further court proceedings.

In other recent cases, the Enugu Police Command detained a suspect in August for the alleged murder of a neighbor’s young daughter and initiated an investigation in September into the killing of Ogbete Main Market Traders Association Chairman, Stephen Aniago.
