Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke, have arrested a notorious kidnapper, Suleiman Ahmad, who allegedly extorted over ₦70 million in ransom from his victims in Taraba State.
The arrest occurred after a coordinated operation on November 12, 2024, targeting kidnapping activities across Maraban Abare, Bomanda, and Karamuke villages in Lau Local Government Area. Ahmad, a resident of Bomanda village, reportedly confessed to kidnapping about 20 individuals and possessing an AK-47 rifle used during his crimes.
In a follow-up operation on November 15, the troops recovered the rifle and arrested an accomplice, Hussaini, a suspected gunrunner, at his residence in Mayo Dassa.
The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Capt. Oni Olubodunde, reiterated the Army’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and protecting citizens from kidnapping and other violent crimes. “We will continue to deploy all necessary resources to ensure the safety of law-abiding residents,” he affirmed.
The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to combat rampant criminal activities in the region.
