The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the upcoming Investor Clinic in Ibadan, scheduled for Thursday, as part of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers Conference. The clinic will take place at the Jogor Event Centre and will provide investors with the opportunity to resolve capital market issues.
Dr. Emomotimi Agama, the Director-General of SEC, made this announcement on Tuesday in Abuja. This clinic follows similar events held in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt during World Investor Week 2024.
The SEC Investor Clinic aims to offer direct assistance to investors, addressing concerns about their participation in the capital market, and educating new investors about the investment environment. Dr. Agama encouraged attendees to bring identification (such as NIN slip, International Passport, or Driver’s License) and evidence of investments, along with a passport photograph.
“The clinic offers a chance for investors to resolve issues with their investments, mandate e-dividend accounts, and engage directly with stock brokers, registrars, and fund managers,” Agama explained.
The SEC will provide services such as opening stock brokerage accounts, resolving unclaimed dividend issues, and offering investment advice. This event is expected to be informative and beneficial, particularly for younger investors looking to make informed decisions in the capital market.
