The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the dismissal of 18 senior police officers and the demotion of 19 others for various acts of misconduct.
This decision was disclosed by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations at the PSC, in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja.
The sanctions followed a plenary meeting where the Commission deliberated on 109 disciplinary cases, including 23 appeals and petitions as well as 13 court rulings.
According to the statement:
“After rigorous consideration of the pending disciplinary matters before the Commission, it approved the dismissal of 19 senior Police Officers. These include 10 Assistant Superintendents, six Deputy Superintendents, two Chief Superintendents, and one Superintendent.
“Additionally, 19 other senior officers were demoted, including one Assistant Commissioner of Police, one Chief Superintendent, two Superintendents, two Deputy Superintendents, and 13 Assistant Superintendents.”
The PSC’s decisions reflect its ongoing efforts to address professional misconduct within the Nigerian Police Force, reinforcing accountability and discipline among officers.
