Peter Schmeichel Backs Thomas Tuchel for Manchester United Manager Role

Published

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has named Thomas Tuchel as a suitable candidate for the managerial position at the club. Schmeichel, while acknowledging the pressure on current manager Erik ten Hag due to the team’s poor performance, expressed his desire to support Ten Hag during this challenging time.

Following Manchester United’s recent goalless draw against Aston Villa, the team currently sits in 14th place in the Premier League. Schmeichel, speaking on the *Seaman Says* podcast with Betway, noted Tuchel’s experience at high-profile clubs, saying, “With the last two jobs Thomas Tuchel had, at Chelsea and at Bayern Munich, he was at those two clubs at the wrong time.”

“I like Thomas Tuchel; I really like him. Being around the Champions League, talking to him, and listening to him in the technical area, he seems like someone who would be a good fit for Manchester United. However, Erik ten Hag is still the manager, and I will support him because I want the club to succeed. If that doesn’t work out, then we can discuss a change,” Schmeichel added.

Currently without a job after leaving Bayern Munich a few months ago, Tuchel is seen by some as a potential successor should the situation at Manchester United deteriorate further.
