Peter Obi on Crossdressing and Government Policies Favoring Women

-

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, recently weighed in on the role of crossdressers in Nigerian society, particularly referring to popular entertainer Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky. Speaking on the *Honest Bunch Podcast*, Obi advised the government not to politicize entertainers, especially crossdressers, as they primarily serve an entertainment purpose.

Obi suggested that economic hardship could be a contributing factor to crossdressing, with some individuals possibly driven to it by financial reasons. He humorously pointed out that if government policies were to disproportionately favor women economically—such as a hypothetical scenario where fuel prices were reduced only for women—more men might adopt female attire to benefit from these policies.

Reflecting on the larger economic issues facing Nigeria, Obi called for focus on solving pressing national problems rather than scrutinizing entertainers’ personal choices, especially when they’re primarily engaged in entertainment rather than politics.
