Osun APC Lauds FG for Halting MKO Abiola Airport Project Relocation

-

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has praised the Federal Government for halting the proposed relocation of the MKO Abiola International Airport from Ido-Osun to Aisu in Ede South Local Government Area. The announcement was made by the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, which stated that the airport project in Ede would be put on hold due to unresolved issues.

The APC, through a statement by Kola Olabisi, its Director of Media and Information, expressed strong disapproval of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s attempt to relocate the airport, which they claimed caused significant unrest in the Ido-Osun community. The party described the relocation plan as an act of “executive recklessness and oppression,” pointing out the lack of valid justification for moving the project to the governor’s hometown.

The relocation had sparked protests and demonstrations from residents of Ido-Osun, leading to growing tensions across the state. The APC also criticized the state government for what it called poor planning and impulsive decision-making, which had disrupted the state’s governance. The party viewed the federal intervention as timely, helping to prevent further financial mismanagement by the Adeleke administration.
