The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of taking undeserved credit for road projects initiated and mostly completed by previous administrations.
This claim followed the recent commissioning of the Stadium-Testing Ground-Oke-Baale-Ilesa-Garage section of the Osogbo Ring Road on Wednesday, marking Governor Adeleke’s second year in office. Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who attended the event, pledged support for Adeleke’s re-election bid in 2026, stating that the APC could not reclaim Osun or Oyo States from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement, Kola Olabisi, the APC’s Director of Media and Information, alleged that Adeleke’s administration had contributed only 20% to the road project, with 80% of the work completed under former governors Rauf Aregbesola and Adegboyega Oyetola.
“It’s deceitful for Governor Adeleke to claim credit for his predecessors’ projects,” the APC stated. “The road is incomplete as the final wearing course remains undone.” The party also criticized Governor Makinde for endorsing an uncompleted project and warned him to verify project details in the future.
The APC emphasized that Aregbesola and Oyetola’s administrations had funded most of the project, paying N15 billion out of the total N18 billion cost. They accused Adeleke of attempting to erase the achievements of his predecessors, particularly Oyetola, who was credited with paying down N97 billion in state debt without borrowing.
Calling for transparency, the APC urged Adeleke to desist from “claiming credit for others’ work” and focus on addressing what they described as the “impulse-driven” nature of his administration.
