Victor Osimhen appears poised to reject Chelsea’s advances in favor of a potential transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, as Chelsea has pursued the Nigerian striker throughout the summer, but Napoli, the reigning Serie A champions, have remained firm in their stance, demanding the full payment of Osimhen’s £113 million release clause.
At 25, Osimhen is high on the list of targets for several top European clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, and PSG. Despite his interest in the Premier League, PSG’s prolonged interest in the striker has caught his attention, especially after Kylian Mbappé’s departure to Real Madrid. However, the French club had initially hesitated to meet Napoli’s asking price and appeared content with their attacking options of Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani.
Osimhen, who has made a name for himself in both Serie A and Ligue 1, was once seen as a top target for Chelsea. But according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Osimhen is now eager to join PSG. This renewed interest from PSG comes after Ramos suffered a severe ankle injury during their Ligue 1 opener against Le Havre, sidelining him for around three months.
As a result, PSG is expected to ramp up their efforts to secure Osimhen before the transfer window closes. This development has cast doubt on Chelsea’s proposed triple-player swap deal for the Nigerian forward.
Since joining Napoli in 2022, Osimhen has scored 76 goals and provided 18 assists in 133 appearances. However, he has recently been sidelined amid reports that he requested a transfer this summer. Napoli’s 2024-25 Serie A campaign began with a goalless draw against Hellas Verona.
